Mayor Mark Lamb and his wife, Kim, live with their three children in the scenic North Creek Valley in Bothell. The Lamb boys both play North Bothell Little League where Dad is a coach; their daughter loves animals and is a zoo keeper to the family dog, cat, fish, four frogs and (her 8th birthday present) a new hamster. Mayor Lamb is a fourth generation Washingtonian and grew up attending Seattle public schools with his three brothers, (he celebrated his 20th High School Reunion this summer). Mayor Lamb's great grandparents were immigrants from Denmark who started a small business in Seattle in the 19th Century near Pioneer Square.
Mark was elected in 2003 to the Bothell City Council and re-elected in 2007. In January of 2006 Councilmember Lamb was elected Mayor by his fellow council members, a post he has been re-elected to twice. Although Bothell is half in Snohomish County, Mayor Lamb is one of only two members of the Council to live in the Snohomish County portion of Bothell. His leadership was recognized when his colleagues from across Snohomish county elected him the Chairman of the board of the Snohomish Health District. As Mayor, Lamb built up Bothell's reserves when the economy was booming, cut taxes for residents and eliminated more than $4 million in spending.
Mayor Mark Lamb became involved with public service at a young age, constructing latrines and planting trees as a health care volunteer in the Dominican Republic while in high school. Later he was a founding member of Citizens for a Safe Snohomish County, a grassroots citizens group focused on improving county public services in the unincorporated areas of Snohomish County.
Currently Mayor Lamb is an attorney and small business owner right here in Bothell.
Mayor Lamb is a graduate of the UCLA School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from Duke University where he graduated with honors. He was also a Rothermere Scholar at Oxford University (New College) in the summer of 1993.
