BUDGET & TAXES
Mayor Mark Lamb is a fiscal conservative who has worked hard to improve Bothell's financial future. Under his leadership the city of Bothell has won four statewide awards for fiscal stewardship and economic development. While other jurisdictions raised taxes on their citizens and cut public safety during the recession, Bothell chose a different path. Bothell cut utility taxes and built up its reserves in good times so that the City could move forward in this recession with projects when costs were lower. Bothell's credit rating has been upgraded twice under Mayor Lamb's leadership, saving taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Mayor Lamb understands that Bothell families have the right to efficient and effective government as they face higher energy prices and a tough job market.
That's why as Mayor Mark Lamb has:
-
cut utility taxes by $375,000
-
refused to raise property taxes
-
cut residential garbage rates
-
doubled size of the utility tax rebate for our seniors struggling with higher bills
Mayor Lamb led the committee that prioritized capital spending over the next seven years to focus on protecting and enhancing Bothell parks, relieving traffic congestion, and enhancing our downtown. The City is making these investments in the future while holding the line on property taxes, reducing utility taxes, and reducing unnecessary spending.
QUALITY OF LIFE & ENVIRONMENT
As Mayor, Mark Lamb led the fight for a citywide plan that reduced cut-through traffic speeding through our neighborhoods. Mark also worked for a downtown plan that protects the enhanced Pop Keeney Field and expands the Park at Bothell Landing. Working together with us, Mark is creating a new vision for Bothell that enhances our downtown with more gathering places and retail options for families while protecting its historic character. Mayor Lamb listened to the citizens of Bothell and saved the historic Anderson Building and the Northshore Pool through a partnership with McMenamins that will provide free access to the pool for 15 years for Bothell residents.
Mayor Lamb fought to create new legislation to protect Bothell's trees and precious open spaces. He worked collaboratively with environmentalists, property owners and other councilmembers to protect critical salmon spawning habitat in North Creek.
PUBLIC SAFETY
For Mayor Mark Lamb, protecting our families is Bothell's first priority. That's why Mark led the fight to give Bothell the strongest "adult entertainment" ordinance in the state of Washington and imposed an emergency moratorium to give the City the time it needed to pass it. And why he fought successfully to put more police officers on our streets and hire more firefighters to safeguard our neighborhoods. Mayor Lamb secured the funding in the budget to hire a fraud detective to investigate and help prosecute criminals who practice identity theft.
